Samantha1962 get over yourself.  Yes there are many people here that are educated, but really there is no reason to treat blogging as a formal matter.  As well, as far as the United States being a joke and without technological advancements apparently you haven't heard of the Wright Brothers, they invented the airplane,  Karl G. Jansky, he invented the Radio Telescope and Robert Jarvik, MD, he invented the artificial heart.  They all are Americans.  As far as weight loss is concerned, it is hard to do no matter how a person does it.  We should all applaud anyone who is trying to better themselves.

I do appreciate and understand what you are saying here after reading through the comments.  However part of losing weight is a level of self confidence, you should try to appreciate and understand how these people may be feeling at this time in their lives.  I don't think that the economy is helping people out very much either.

Weight gain is a give in when you are not employed through any fault of your own.  Being overweight can cause people to not think as clearly either.  For what it's worth, I've always heard the saying that goes, if you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything at all?  If you are someone with a higher intellect then perhaps you might understand that picking a fight with people who are less educated than yourself is, from certain viewpoints/perspectives (Classless) To them, their problem of being overweight is more of an issue right now than the one you’ve tried to present to them.  In other words, one step at a time, you have to try and give people credit for starting somewhere.   I’m sure that not everything in your life with you personally is perfect either, what if people studied you and picked you apart and criticized your faults, really it doesn’t matter what they are, and you’re human and bound to have them.

Try and have a better outlook on life and people in general, you might make a few more friends than you did when you wrote this little ditty.

I can appreciate everyone's comments, but I am amazed at the spelling and grammar in the messages. Does anyone in this forum have at least a high school diploma? No wonder the U.S. is a joke to the rest of the world in regard to technological advancements and simple, basic, intelligent conversation. It seems that we have more to worry about here than weight issues.

hi to everyone who has made a comment.  Now I'd like to say, "come on people"  it doesn't matter how anyone got to the point of losing their weight.  You are arguing about bypass verses doing it yourself!!  For pete's sake get real.  Both ways are extremely hard.  I personally am chicken to have bypass (that is if I could even afford it, which I can't)  It changes your life drastically.  Let's try to help each other instead of debating which way is better.  My daughter had the lap band done and I wouldn't have that either.  But...I do need to somehow get myself to do what I need to do to get this weight off.  I weigh 210 lbs and time is running out.

yeah how can having gastric bypass be a change a habit? In the last 5 months I had a startling revelation in life I'm 5'8 and weighted 315 lbs and looked and felt awful, today as I write this I weigh in at a muscule 240 lbs feel great and look good and am more confident than ever, when I saw a picture of myself and one morning tying my shoe a chair broke from under me I had enough, strenght of will portion control eating right and working out like crazy and the support of a loving wife is what I needed.Sad

I just wanted to comment on the person that says they way 200 and they are a stress eater ect. First off congradulation on admitting your down falls. It takes so many people a long time to admit that they are an emotional eater. My mom went years complaining about weight and food and she has just now started realizing she ate when she was feeling emotional. I think having a support group like weight watchers or a trainer that you can discuss things with can be really helpfull. I am keeping track of my diet right now with weight watchers and I joined a "biggest loser's club" at my local community center and having the support of working out with a group and having people with common goals to talk to it really helpful. Remember you are not ALONE in this there is a lot of support on-line also! Start researching and embrace this journey and you can have success..do it because you love yourself!

Hi,

I have done weight watchers and lost 100 lbs. It took time, but I learned to eat and exercise the right way forever. It's a daily challenge, but manageable. I'm not perfect, but I'm going strong.

Good luck!!

I, too, went through my own weight loss journey, without surgery.  And I am a winner because I have the skills to keep the weight off the rest of my life.  While I agree that extremely obese people need the surgery to get them started, there is nothing like proper diet and exercise to keep yourself healthy.  Having been overweight my entire life, I know of what I speak.  Congratulations to all the winners for their weight loss but without the knowledge of good nutrition, it will come back!
