I just came across this blog looking for some new healthy cooking recipes.

I'm a trainer for a MMA gym in Corona. I read alot of your comments and I know how alot of you feel. I have had issues with my weight in the past.  I just want to give you some really easy suggestions to get started. First THINK  and I mean really Think about what you do daily. What food do I consume how much?  What do I do for exercise? The human  body is like a machine Think about this you would not but 50 dollars in gas in you tank when it's almost full already right!!!  Lower the amounts of food you eat increase the frequency. Smaller amounts are easier for the body to digest poperly. Second walking is a great start  swimming but most of all trying   TRYING yeah thats right try new things go to the mountains for a walk the beach get outside. Third find support  freinds family neighbors groups. For me it was myself that held me back . You can be your worst enemy when it comes to your weight loss.  Good luck to you all   stay positive and remember there are lots of people out there right now trying just like you.....

hello everyone, i just joined this group and reading all your comments have raised my level of expectation when it comes to loosing weight.

I'm currently at 173lbs 5.5ft, 34yrs of age and started going to the gym about 2weeks ago, and have lost 2lbs so far, and been eating less than before. Its not easy eating less or getting your stomach used to it, when you have been eating lots of food all your life.

for those trying to loose weight, do it the right way and do plenty of exercise and trust me you'll feel much better after every work out.

tryinhard125  - You should have plenty of time for exercise.  If not maybe you need to re-evaluate some of your activities and decide what you want more.  Watch tv or get fit and healthy.  Everyone would like to see you succeed.  If your family has a treadmill start off by walking a mile or two a day.  If you do not own one try walking outside when you get home from school.  It will make you feel better and you will be able to concentrate more on your homework.  A good book to get you started is Body for Life - http://bodyforlife.com/.  This is what got me started.  I went from 220 to 180.  I lift weights every other day and also have increased my running slowly up to 25 miles per week.  Since May I have started logging my miles that I run and by the end of this year I will have run over 800 miles.   Believe me it is alot of work and you really have to want to do it.  Once you start losing weight and feeling better, able to run 2 or 3 times a week you might be surprised that you are addicted to exercising and running.  It is a good addiction.  Good Luck!

I use to work at a job where I would move around A LOT..and while I was there I weighed 130. But now I work at an office job where i'm sitting down 10hrs a day. I've been here for about 1 1/2 yrs and I've gained about 25 lbs. And just last week I joined the gym and I've been going for about an Hour and a half every day. Even in the morning around 5:00am because I heard you burn more in the morning. I've been eating better. I cut down on calories, drinking more water, and snacking daily. This is my 2nd week, and I've noticed that I have more energy and I'm happier. I'm hoping to lose those 25 lbs..any tips or advice? I would like some feedback from those of you that are doing this and have been going at it a tad bit longer than I have. Just to have an Idea of when I'll see results. Thank You!

I feel your pain!  I have found that once women start to "diet", their body (metabolism) gets screwy.  SO, that means you are fighting a battle 10X harder than anyone else, and your body keeps getting it's revenge.  Find a healthy eating plan, walk, and stick to it.  Don't give up!  Be healthy, quit the crazy dieting, and make up your mind that you will get better, and DO IT!!

Week 1//Starting the Challenge

Week 1: For the next five weeks, burn fat and get fit simply by walking. You can walk indoors on a treadmill or outside on the sidewalk, a track or a trail. You can also use this plan with cardio machines.

Each routine starts with a warm-up and then is broken into series of slower and faster, or easier and harder, intervals. The harder intervals push you to work at a more vigorous intensity. At the "race pace," speed up your walk. At a "roarin' pace," either speed up or find other ways to increase the intensity: jogging, climbing stairs, doing jumping jacks, jumping rope, or stepping up and down off a step. These intervals should feel hard.

If you are overweight and unfit, you may not be ready to jump or jog, or even speed up too much. If so, don't go faster than a brisk walk if that's a sufficient challenge. Catch your breath during the easy intervals. If any routine feels to difficult, shorten the workout or lower your exercise intensity by slowing down.
