I have always wanted to lose weight, though never put an effort for it.  I joined weight watchers which was a major step for me in a week I lost 4lbs and am looking to the smaller picture to get to the bigger picture.  I figure if I lose weight in a weekly basis at the end of the month I can see the bigger picture.  I want to start my new years resolution before 1/1/10 and just say no to everyone for once and say yes to taking care of myself.  New to the board.

I'm a 39 year man my upper body is still very strong and in fair shape, my legs are also strong, back is the same but my mid section is out of shape bad, I carry all my extra weight right in my gut---I have walked, ran, elliptical machined until I was blue in the face, also changed my diet and eat salads until I can't stand them, drink water until my eyes float! --- NO CHANGE!   Are there any dietary supplements that honestly can help me shed some of the weight in my mid-section combined with cardio?

                                                  Thanks...

Actually speaking, there is nothing better than starving your stomach (don't make a mistake, not starving your brain) to weight loss and do some weight loss exercises.

First off, starving is severe than dieting and seriously deprives you and your brain of essential protein supply and energy. result of it could be dangerous, so don't do it. Supply the brain with enough glucose so that it doesn't get the news that you are dieting. Cut down on a mealbut compensate for it with a fruit juice or a whole cucumber.

Weight loss exercises include simple walking to skipping to more of the type. Don't look back if you have to use an elliptical trainer or some other exercise machine

Don't give up, you will lose more than 10 pounds in 5 weeks, sure thing.

You guys need to lay off sal33na- considering she's only 16 with barely a yr old is stressful enough.. Shes coming here for advice or ideas - and here u are attacking her parenting skills- damn.. I have 2 daughters- I gained 30 with my first and 40 with my second. I exercised and ate clean and the weight fell off.. If your baby is at a yr - she's probally almost walking- so as long as ur making good choices with your diet( and not beating yourself up about having a "bad" treat in moderation) then the weight will come off.. I've found for me usually it takes almost 18 months after pregnacy to bounce back.. Btw when ur baby is running- you'll be running after her and that means cardio- lol.. good luck.

Be careful, though, if you're post menopausal...my friend did that diet and ended up with iron toxicity.  Too much iron in the stuff for us older gals...

hey there! i'm 18 years old, 5'4 and now weigh around 110. i always read cereal boxes - its just a habit. not too long ago on my second bowl of special k that day (thanks to a busy college schedule that's all i had time for), i realized that there was the special k challenge on the back. you need to eat the cereal twice a day, only eat the special k snacks and then eat the third meal how you normally do. i figured since i liked it so much i should give it a try. i was strict with it for the first week and then started going to the gym during the second week - still sticking to the plan. i weighed around 121 pounds and it worked!!!! give it a try, i was very surprised.

The number of calories is what will allow you to loose weight. It's a numbers game. The more calories you burn PLUS the less calories you intake will allow you to loose weight... It's all about WHAT food you eat. Try eating all natural foods. Don't cook in oils and butter. Eat raw veggies and fruits - don't cook them - there's more nutrients in raw foods. Stay away from dairy - its fatening, full of calories and our bodies are not meant to break down other animals milk.
