There are so many things to tempt us when eating out. The portions served are notoriously humungous, and it's easy to feel like you don’t have control over the way your food is prepared. But there are a lot of tricks you can use from 2-Week Total Body Turnaround when ordering at a restaurant that can keep your calories and fat grams down and help you stay healthy and fit.

Tip 1: Order fish or chicken and ask for extra veggies instead of rice or potatoes. And get a side salad to start!

Order a side-salad instead of french fries, it is healthier and refreshing in the summer heat.

The main thrustshould be that if you eat out daily or very often, these types of selection should apply but-------------------------------------if you eat out very infrequently(as most folks do), for heaven sakes partake of great chefery when possible and enjoy meals(sauces from stockpots, etc.) and  creations you would never be able to make at home!

Enjoy!

Another idea is to order cappucinno instead of dessert...add splenda for sweetening...feels like dessert.

Ah food, This is why I love exercise.

It's kind of like buying a fast car, burning up the fuel on joy rides and putting quality gas in so you can continue the fun.

If you can't afford a fast car and the quality fuel that comes with it, then buy a slow car that doesn't require as much fuel!

Exercise!

The key to eating out, as with all things, is moderation!  If you eat healthy and cook at home most of the time (as in all but once a month or so), then I personally don't see the problem with indulging when you do go to a restaurant.  Think of it as an occasion instead of just a meal and enjoy it - after all that is truly the purpose isn't it.  If one was just looking for a quick bite to eat, then raid your own refrigerator!  Take it how you want, just my view - but, one quick note - since my husband adapted this pattern of thought he's lost over 40 pounds, has more energy and absolutely enjoys life where before everything was an effort.  Why wouldn't it be with all of the extra baggage to carry around?

NOTHING in life has to be an all or nothing.  Food for thought.Smile

weak article, been seeing this for years and the posts eat this not that.  Don't go out to eat daily.  I go out twice a month and eat what I want and control intake in my kitchen.  I only allow myself one Monty Cristo sandwich a year out and once a year chicken fried steak of chicken pot pie.

I do look at menus before I go out to eat.. not really for the sake of health, but because I am really picky.  I can't even count how many times I have gone to a restaurant only to sit down, open a menu, and not have many options.  In the South, I used to be faced with entire menus of food I won't eat.  Regardless of the reason, it  is good to take a peek at the menu if you want to have some control over what your options are going to be.

Eating healthy should be a big priority in everyone's life. Not only will it prolong the years someone will live, but you will look fantastic while living it. Being healthy, and maintaining a well balanced diet isn't easy but it will be the most rewarding thing that someone will ever encounter. I use to be overweight, and never cared about what I looked like, until I had enough dis-encouragment one day and decided to loose weight. Not only for health reasons but also for physical appearance reasons. Obesity is a big Problem here in the U.S. due to the fact that most people are running in the fast lane at all times, and prefer fast food for convenience. Come on people, this is an epidemic that needs to change. Fatty foods are delicious but at what cost? Are you willing to loose a few years out of your life because your taste buds took over your body? Mind over body!!!
