Why Friday the 13th Is Your Lucky Day!
Don't let superstition distract you from noticing good opportunities

Freaking out about Friday the 13? Superstition about the date affects millions, according to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in North Carolina, adding up to millions in lost revenue as people avoid business deals and travel.
But believe it or not, today's notoriously unlucky date could actually be your luckiest day yet.
According to Elizabeth Nutt Williams, professor of psychology at St. Mary's College of Maryland, the real reason for your bad luck ... is you. "Perceptions of luck — or chance or serendipity — are very individual," says Williams. The good news? You can make your own good luck, too! Here's how to do it.
Access your assets
"I am a firm believer in playing to one's strengths," says Williams. Being confident in your abilities — and not worrying about your perceived weaknesses — can up your luck factor. According to research from Richard Wiseman, psychiatrist and author of The Luck Factor, stressing out could lead to an unlucky streak. Anxiety can distract you from noticing stellar opportunities, so stay chill and confident today.
Answer if opportunity knocks
Studies show there aren't really lucky people — just those who recognize good opportunities. Be bold and put yourself out there. If you come across a cute guy, to-die-for business contact or any other once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, don't shy away.
Embrace the bad
"When someone encounters bad luck, they might find new opportunities hidden within," says Williams. Have you been fired, laid off, dumped or ditched by a friend? Consider this your sign to go after your dream job, embrace your single days or seek out a new (better!) BFF.
