Cherries
Should you let yourself have that midnight snack if you're having trouble sleeping and you think hunger might be part of the problem? Here are five foods that can actually help you drift off:

Fresh and dried cherries are one of the only natural food sources of melatonin, the chemical that controls the body's internal clock to regulate sleep. Researchers who tested tart cherries and found high levels of melatonin recommend eating them an hour before bedtime or before a trip when you want to sleep on the plane.

I was puzzled as to why Turkey was left off the list. 30 seconds into my Google search revealed this... Does Eating Turkey Make You Sleepy?

In a nutshell: So, why are you sleepy after a big turkey dinner? It's a combination of the type of food, amount of food, and celebratory atmosphere.

Looking beautiful is a dream for every woman. It would be quite incorrect to say that beauty is just external. True beauty lies within you. You are what you eat is a very famous quote which clearly states that you would look exactly what you take in your body as food. So the most important thing to make your skin look good is to have a look at what you eat. If you eat the right amount and right type of food then your true beauty would be reflected through your skin.

According to an article in The Times a ridiculously large amount of women are wearing the wrong bra size. So how do you know if you've got it right? Basically, you should feel comfortable in your bra. It shouldn't be too tight or leave red marks behind. Nor should it be too baggy. If you can easily fit more than two fingers under the band of your bra than it may well be too big.

thank you so much melanie haiken!  i had no idea my 3 red bulls i drank every night was the reason behind my sleep issues.  what great insight

but enough sarcasm...  whats also funny is that she says you should drink a glass of warm milk before bed which doctors and modern medicine will tell you you shouldn't do.

a little career advice for you melanie... if youre going to bs an article the night before, do some research and not just what your mom gave you to go to sleep as a kid.  and i have read your other articles from caring.com and they are just as insightful.  and if you still cant tell (which i wouldn't doubt) that was also sarcasm.  (see her article on "does sharing a bathroom with someone undergoing chemo going to give me chemo?"  yes... she said discussed the possiblility of "contracticng" chemo.

I know people who have a cup (or two) of tea or coffee before going to bed - and they sleep like babies. Now, just in case you've never slept next to a baby, let me tell you that they're thrashing all over the place - all arms, all legs, kicking, poking.

But they sleep....

So... Stop taking regulated sleeping pills, for the love of God, and go organic. Duh.

Also I think it's funny because it's the same thing we eat for breakfeast lol?

Although eating cherries for the melatonin before a flight so you can sleep may sound like a good idea. Cherries are also very high in fiber, which translates into gas in your digestive system. Imagine your surprise when you are awakened by a loud noise (followed by a distinct odor). I absolutely love fresh cherries but dare not eat them before a flight, or any other close quarters events (unless my dog is near by). You have been warned.
