Fresh and dried cherries are one of the only natural food sources of melatonin, the chemical that controls the body's internal clock to regulate sleep. Researchers who tested tart cherries and found high levels of melatonin recommend eating them an hour before bedtime or before a trip when you want to sleep on the plane.
I was puzzled as to why Turkey was left off the list. 30 seconds into my Google search revealed this... Does Eating Turkey Make You Sleepy?
In a nutshell: So, why are you sleepy after a big turkey dinner? It's a combination of the type of food, amount of food, and celebratory atmosphere.
Wow nice
to know
i did not know this
thank you very much
thank you so much melanie haiken! i had no idea my 3 red bulls i drank every night was the reason behind my sleep issues. what great insight
but enough sarcasm... whats also funny is that she says you should drink a glass of warm milk before bed which doctors and modern medicine will tell you you shouldn't do.
a little career advice for you melanie... if youre going to bs an article the night before, do some research and not just what your mom gave you to go to sleep as a kid. and i have read your other articles from caring.com and they are just as insightful. and if you still cant tell (which i wouldn't doubt) that was also sarcasm. (see her article on "does sharing a bathroom with someone undergoing chemo going to give me chemo?" yes... she said discussed the possiblility of "contracticng" chemo.
eat for big bad woman whate eat woman
I know people who have a cup (or two) of tea or coffee before going to bed - and they sleep like babies. Now, just in case you've never slept next to a baby, let me tell you that they're thrashing all over the place - all arms, all legs, kicking, poking.
But they sleep....
So... Stop taking regulated sleeping pills, for the love of God, and go organic. Duh.
Also I think it's funny because it's the same thing we eat for breakfeast lol?
