Q. Can men get yeast infections? Is it possible that I am giving yeast infections to my girlfriend?

A. Yeast is not especially picky about its host so long as the environment is warm and moist. Consequently, uncircumcised men can bake up a problem under their foreskin. Once the infection is present, it can easily be traded back and forth between sexual partners.

Prevention involves good hygiene; the foreskin should be pulled back and cleaned after showering and after urinating. When a sexual encounter gives rise to a yeast infection, treatment is usually as simple as a topical antibiotic.
