What Is Lung Cancer?
Lung cancer is abnormal cellular growth throughout the lung. Typical lung cancer cases involve non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) and small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC). Tobacco smoke exposure is the leading cause of this respiratory disease, but exposure to asbestos fibers, radon gas and other factors are also sources of the cancer. A thorough diagnosis is essential to determine the proper treatment strategy. Chemotherapy and surgery are two lung cancer treatment practices.
