De-flab Your Inner Thighs
The inside of my upper legs are too mushy. Which exercises are best?
Q. My inner thighs are too flabby. What exercises can I do to firm them up?
A. Muscles can look and feel flabby if they are weak or if there is extra fat surrounding them, or both.
So your inner-thigh toning strategy should be two pronged: Do resistance exercise to strengthen the adductor muscles in the inner thighs and decrease body fat.
“These exercises will not burn off fat from the area.”
Doing more cardio exercise and eating fewer calories each day can help you can reduce body fat all over your body, including your thighs.
Tone up inner-thigh muscles
Firming up these muscles is easy. All you need to do are the following exercises on MSN Health & Fitness’ Fit Zone on two to three non-consecutive days per week. Try these four moves:
Lose the fat
Keep in mind that these inner-thigh moves will strengthen the muscles, making them feel firm and look toned. But these exercises will not burn off fat from the area. Some exercise techniques incorrectly imply that you can spot reduce certain areas of the body by doing targeted exercises. But don’t be fooled: The muscle burn you may feel by the end of a set of repetitions of an exercise is not an indication that you are burning fat, but simply a sign of muscle fatigue. Even if you performed a thousand inner-thigh leg lifts every day for a month, you won’t burn any measurable amount of fat. You’d build muscle endurance, but that spot toning approach won’t downsize your thighs.
Reducing thigh fat is more problematic than losing upper-body fat. That’s because lower-body fat is more fat-loss resistant than fat in the upper body, such as the abs. The only way to reduce body fat is to metabolize it—or use it for energy—either by doing high calorie burning exercise or by eating fewer calories each day. Depending on how much fat you have to start with as well as your genetic tendencies of fat distribution, you may luck out and find that starting a regular routine of cardio such as walking, running or cycling on most days of the week will reduce thigh fat after a few months. Or you may discover that more exercise, or exercising at a higher intensity, is needed. The longer you stick to it, the better your results will be. Dieting sensibly can also reduce fat all over your body.
Be patient with fat loss, as it takes time. The good news is that you are burning some fat with every single cardio workout while getting fitter and healthier to boot. Walking, running, swimming or any other cardio workout will reduce more fat than a muscle strengthening move. But doing both together will reap the best results.

As the article states some exercises to help I have a few that I do to help tone the area:
Squats- can be done with dumbells/weighted bars or without
Lunges- I use a resistance strap to increase the work load
Wide stepping squats- with or without weights
Crunches with scissor motion with legs- works core, abs and thighs- just don't put the legs down between scissor motions.
Your body is your body and your body is a gift. It is to be cherished as source of joy. It is something that is to be nurtured and supported and made the best it can be at every point in your life. You are meant to move and stretch, to exercise, and to fuel yourself with good nutrients.
This article is a good one, yet I am always frustrated by articles "targeting" areas for they seem to neglect the big picture. It's simple really. To lose fat you need to do two things: Cut down on fat you intake, consistently, and burn the fat you have.
To do that, you need to (1) exercise cardiovascularly at least 4x per week for 20 minutes minimum in a manner that PUSHES you; (2) engage in weight bearing activity at least 4x a week, (3) stretch out you body at least 4x a week, and (4) eat natural, non-processed foods regularly. And this must be done for the rest of your life.
I don't understand the complication, the fade diets, and weight-watching plans..... It's not rocket science. It's simple. You need to move your body. If you don't move your body in all the ways it can move, it will tighten and stiffen. I teach yoga, and NO, inflexibility does NOT come with age. It's lack of use. You also need to work your heart. It's a MUSCLE. It needs to stay strong. Oxygen flowing through it keeps it strong. This is the cardio. And you need to work your other muscles to keep them strong, hence the weight-bearing activitiy. And finally, you need to eat natural foods that are alive and nutritious. You need a healthy diet that supports your bones and ligaments, and you being as a cellular level. Our cells absorb everything we ingest, and what we ingest literally creates us and serves to generate and re-generate us and give us energy. We are natural beings and we need natural foods to live well. Otherwise, we break down and our bodies can only create unhealthy cells. We all know about unhealthy cells.
Personally, I don't understand why people aren't joyous to live this way. Exercise feels good. I look forward to my time spend moving, in my body. To run and push myself to my limits feels good. I feel strong. And I feel my physical self is a gift. Someday it will fade away.....I hope you all make the best of what you have while it's here for you to create.
What I found has worked best for inner thigh jiggle, overall toning my legs and butt and burning extra calories is walking in body toning insoles.
I walk daily for exercise wearing body toning insoles that help you tone muscles and help you to burn more calories while you walk They are called Smartsole( http://www.smartsole.com ) I like that I am getting a work out and toning my legs and butt even when just running errands. They are similar to the EasyTone Sneaker by Reebok , but they cost under $30 and you can wear in any flat shoe or sneaker. You can also run or work out in them as well and The Reebok sneaker is only designed for walking.
I read about them in Prevention mag in an article on hot new exercise products and they are a fabulous way to get toned for those of us with crazy schedules. They listed the code jm10 to save 10% off.
FYI for the ladies - not all guys are against "inner thigh jiggle". Some of us like a little something to hold onto. Not talking about an extreme ****, but an attraction to someone who looks like she's eaten in the past week and isn't ashamed of it. I'd rather be with a woman who's got some "jiggle" but is confident in herself than an insecure size 2 any day.
