Howard E. LeWine, M.D. is Chief Medical Editor, Internet Publishing at Harvard Health Publications, a division of Harvard Medical School.

LeWine is a graduate of Lafayette College and Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco and is board certified in internal medicine.

Following completion of his residency, LeWine joined the internal medicine department at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in San Francisco. During his tenure, he served as secretary and president of the active medical staff. LeWine was one of the founding members of the nutritional support service at Kaiser.

In 1989, he moved to Massachusetts where he continued general internal medicine practice at Harvard Community Health Plan. He became a member of the Brigham and Women's Hospital internal medicine department in Boston and joined the faculty of Harvard Medical School.

In addition to his role at Harvard Health Publications, LeWine is a part-time hospitalist. He remains active in teaching medical students, interns and residents, including leading clinical case discussions. He's also a recipient of the George W. Thorn Excellence in Teaching Award, an honor bestowed by the medical residents at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
